Narrative Design & Writing
Projects I've worked on
About
In Nobody's Hero you play as a deluded everyman turned vigilante. Battle your way through close-combat missions and improve your deck throughout the run. The aim is to produce an addictive turn-based tactics game where each move has consequences.
Using deck building roguelike mechanics, the player fights through a series of small levels to reach the final boss. Starting with simple abilities, they gain random skills throughout the run, making each playthrough different.
Development
The game was a team project for my MA Indie Game Development course at Falmouth University. I helped with narrative design, game writing, game and level design early on in the project, alongside two programmers, an artist and another game/narrative designer.
This involved working on narrative documentation for the team and collaborating with teammates on story and characters. The full release would involve comic panel interludes which would change depending on the choices in the player's run.
Writing sample
Below is a branching dialogue made in Ink. This was unused in the prototype, given time limitations, but gives an example of story interludes during the game. You can play this random encounter here.
